I am heartbroken to relay the news of Lew's passing.
Lew started feeling unwell in early February, with digestion problems. The symptoms did not abate and about a month later a scan of his abdomen showed tumours on his liver and pancreas. He went into hospital in late March for a biopsy which showed that the tumours were cancerous, and so extensive that there was no hope of a cure, or even of treatment that would significantly impede the illness. His decline was swift and he died peacefully on Thursday April 17 at 2am. He was 59.
Thank you to all who visited him in hospital and sent messages of support.
The funeral (cremation) is scheduled for Friday May 2, at 1.40pm, at Rochdale Crematorium. Lew will be in repose at Clifford Oldham Funeral Service in Rochdale from Wednesday, April 30. Further details may be obtained from Darwen Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Lew's name to a cancer charity such as Macmillan or Cancer Research.
After the funeral at approximately 3pm there will be a reception at The Broadfield Hotel. A buffet and light refreshments will be served. All who knew Lew are welcome.
If you have photos of Lew you would be willing to share, please send them to me at the email address below, or if they are prints I would be grateful for the opportunity to scan them at your convenience.
